Choosing where to stay on PEI's north shore starts with what you want to come home to. A deck overlooking New London Bay, a cottage beside the Sou'West River and a view over Darnley Basin give you different settings, even when your day trips overlap.
PEI Best Cottages has six rental options around Stanley Bridge, Clinton and Darnley. Four are in Stanley Bridge, including the two separate Summer House suites. Clinton and Darnley each have one. Choose the location first, then check the beds and house rules before settling on a property.
Stanley Bridge for a bay-view cottage base
The Stanley Bridge collection looks over New London Bay, with the national park sandhills part of the waterfront setting. Sandhills Blue Cottage sleeps five and has two bathrooms, while Stanley Bridge Sandhills Cottage sleeps four and has a wraparound deck. Both are pet friendly.
The Summer House main-level suite sleeps two, and the ground-level suite sleeps four. These are adult-only, pet-free stays in a quiet-zone property. They share one building, so check which level you are considering when looking through the photographs.
Stanley Bridge can suit a trip built around Cavendish outings and time back at the cottage. Compare the four layouts rather than choosing from the view alone. A couple looking for a quiet suite and a family needing separate beds have different requirements.
Clinton for three bedrooms beside the river
Clinton Ocean and Sunset Cottage has three bedrooms, two bathrooms and space for six guests, beside the Sou'West River on a one-acre waterfront lot. Beach access is shared. The optional six-person hot tub carries an extra fee that Lisa confirms when you enquire.
If your group would rather have three separate bedrooms than use a sofa bed, Clinton belongs on the shortlist. Check the inside photographs too. Tell Lisa how your group wants to divide the bedrooms, particularly if you are travelling with more than one household.
Darnley for a stay near Thunder Cove
Darnley Basin Wildflower Cottage sleeps six in two bedrooms plus a sofa bed. It has a basin view, shared beach access and a location near Thunder Cove Beach. Dogs are welcome, provided they stay off beds and furniture.
The Darnley coast is worth planning around, but older travel photographs can mislead. Tourism PEI notes that Thunder Cove's coastline keeps changing and that Teacup Rock was lost in a hurricane in 2022. Use the current Darnley guide and our Thunder Cove planning article before setting expectations for a particular photo stop.
Match the base to your own priorities
For a family of six wanting three bedrooms and two bathrooms, start with Clinton. For a dog-friendly Darnley stay, look at Wildflower. For an adult-only suite for two, compare the Summer House main level with the other Stanley Bridge options before choosing.
Those suggestions reflect the verified layouts and policies, rather than a ranking of the areas. All three can be the right starting point for a different trip. Send Lisa your dates, guest count and preferred location so she can confirm which cottage is available and what the stay will cost.
